Directed and Written by Paul Andrew Wilson, Song for Marion is both a heart-breaking and heart-warming story about a woman, Marion (Vanessa Redgrave) who is dying from cancer. Although her life is going downhill after her diagnosis of terminal cancer, she still finds the strength to continue attending her weekly singing group, run by Elizabeth (Gemma Arterton). Her husband, Arthur (Terence Stamp) is insistent that she stay tucked up in bed, but Marion just sees this as wasting time and awaiting death. Arthur is a reclusive , stereotypically grumpy old man who sees no point or joy to the singing which keeps Marion happy and feeling alive; that is until Marion passes on and he finds himself listening to Marion’s singing group rehearsals. He begins to let himself understand the passion Marion had for singing leading to the singing competition and ultimately his solo. A very touching an emotional story.
